There are thousands of true crime docuseries out in the world, but I’m not sure any of them have a host quite as knowledgeable and compelling as Barbara Butcher (and yes, that is her real name).

From a marketing perspective, it was a no-brainer to lean into Barbara as heavily as possible. We produced a full marketing shoot, complete with custom photo and video concepts that allowed Barbara to be at the front and center of every marketing asset for the show.

On-air promos featured Barbara talking to the audience from our “crime scene” inspired set, partly explaining the role of a death investigator, partly establishing her credibility as a host, and always showing off her bold, electric personality, which served as a huge draw for the series, setting it apart from others of its kind.

Ultimately, The Death Investigator with Barbara Butcher was a major ratings success for Oxygen True Crime, premiering above expectations and maintaining consistently strong numbers over the course of the season.
